Snowboard Bind and boots

The snowboard binding serves to hold the snowboarder’s boots down on the snowboard. There is a distinction between different types of bindings.

A binding plate is attached to a hard boot toe and heel using metal brackets, usually folding the anterior loop. A plate binding provides a very direct power transmission. It is used mainly in Alpine and Raceboards.

Soft bindings, on the other hand, binds a soft boot with two ratchet Snowboard Bind and bootsstraps over the instep and toes. It is the most common type of binding. Flow binding is a special bind for soft boots. It is similar to the normal soft bindings, but in contrast to them, flow binding no longer uses a ratchet in the traditional sense. To get into the bind, the highback is lowered using a small lever.

The fourth type of binding is the step-in binding. It uses a mechanism that allows standing up and snapping into the binds.

Snowboard Boots
Regarding the footwear designed for snowboarding, there is a distinction between soft boots and hard boots. Hard boots are quite similar to normal ski boots; they are like hard-shelled shoes that are cast in plastic.

Soft boots usually offer a slightly higher wear than hard boots, but the power is transmitted indirect, for example when cornering. Running is much easier with soft boots, and today they are the more common form of shoe.
